Informative session on the relationship between mental health and productivity, and strategies for maintaining productivity during challenging mental health periods.
The session also covered techniques like mindfulness, breathing exercises, and the importance of reaching out to others—whether friends, family, or professionals—when feeling overwhelmed. I found the interactive parts of the meeting especially helpful, where we participated in short reflection exercises and had the opportunity to ask questions.
Another takeaway for me was the emphasis on self-compassion. Often, we are quick to judge ourselves harshly, but the speaker encouraged us to treat ourselves with the same kindness and patience that we would offer a close friend.
Overall, the meeting made me more aware of how crucial it is to take care of our mental well-being and to support others in doing the same. It was a reminder that small actions—like checking in on someone, setting healthy boundaries, or simply taking time to rest—can make a big difference. I left the meeting feeling inspired, more informed, and motivated to continue learning and practicing mental wellness in my own life.
For me the highlight of this presentation was the slide about productivity, you can be using all your energy and resources but that doesn’t mean you are being productive. That reminded me of this analogy someone made about someone running in place. Just because you are moving that doesn’t mean you are going somewhere, all movement ain’t progress. Don’t confuse yourself with actually getting somewhere just because you are doing something.
This meeting talked about mental health and ways to deal with common issues and how mental health can take a toll on people, even the smallest thing.
I think this session came at a good time during the semester. Lately I have been feeling more stressed due to balancing school and work. One thing that someone brought up that was very true is scrolling take a lot of our time now a days. There were some techniques that were given to help out and I definitely will be trying them.
