great way to spend time after a celebration of life of a garden friend. saw some bees! sweat? bumble bee, abrupt digger? large carpenter
brr! cold day. Was at the garden for iris show, so added on bee monitoring. Not good bee weather! but there was a bit of sun in the late afternoon and a bumble bee was out and about by the butterfly gate which was thrilling to find. Plenty of things blooming but no other bees seen, except some honey bees (we are not monitoring). This project is helping me discover new plants in the garden.
girdled 4 ligustrum for Community Activated Park Project 411. I love that we have a fun regular group of Friday morning volunteers regularly working on this project to steward our Walnut Creek watershed.
Mayfield Preserve Park: little hot, but saw plenty of insects, and bees, to distract me from the heat. checked "latrine garden" and the gated garden area.
Well organized, fun event with energetic and knowledgeable volunteers. Would do again. Delicious snacks, too! Feels good to help with forest stewardship along Walnut Creek.
invasive mustard cabbage removal at Copperfield Park, 4 volunteers total. Misty weather, nice an cool. Moist soil made for easy pulling. Native wildflower revealed and saw a butterfly!
lovely wet cool day at the garden. surprised to see a bee, but there was one! (and a honey bee, which doesn't count for this...)
lovely day to pull invasive plants at Blakeney pond with 4 volunteers under City of Austin Community Activated Park Project
crowded day and time at the garden, but still a lovely Spring day to look for bees.
