3 species documented on this lovely mostly sunny afternoon after recent rains. unable to get photographs of small green carpenter bee visiting red buckeye and possibly a greenish mason bee or sweat bee (larger than a lasio but smaller than a honey bee) on persimmon tree blooming, but not sure on that last one as observation was fleeting. Delighted to see another bee observer.
elbow bush, mexican plum, agarita, white honeysuckle bush, quince, croton monitored. 1 sweat bee seen on agarita.
mason bee, likely male, sitting on agarita leaf in Hartman Prehistoric garden. Garden surprisingly crowded for a weekday, but it is a holiday for some.
Zilker: 2 sweat bees (2 different types, green metallic and lasioglossum I think) seen on elbow bush on hill country trail near the butterfly gate. Very few nectar sources due to recent freeze. Mexican plum in same area just starting to put on some blooms and saw 2 agarita flowers open nearby. The white honeysuckle bush in the Xeriscape garden also had some blooms, but did not observe native bees on it.
