Volunteered as an online tutor for a local education and intellectual enrichment center within my community.
2 hours of tutoring math
I went grocery shopping for my neighbor who is currently working in the hospital for coronavirus patients.
Made calls to recently naturalized US citizens in Spanish to see how their citizenship experience has been and if they need any extra help due to covid
I went food shopping for my grandpa this week because my family does not want him to leave the house. He is stubborn and feels stuck inside, but I know that going to the supermarket for him is the best way to make sure he stays healthy.
Used the online game Eye Wire that helps researchers at Princeton University map the brain and better understand neuron development.
Tutored my little sister in chemistry and history assignments and tests.
I tutored a child who was struggling with mathematics, specifically with adding and subtracting fractions. After walking him through a few questions where he made a few errors and wasn't sure why, he asked me how to approach a question that asked to show addition with a number line. We started to get somewhere but we'll further discuss that, and other items, in the next tutoring session tomorrow.
Oatmeal Quick Bread
This recipe was one I discovered when searching for an easy, no-knead bread to make at home. It's quite simple to make, delicious, and a fun activity to do with family.
Ingredients: 1 Cup Rolled Oats, 1.5 Cups Whole Wheat Flour, 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder, .5 Teaspoon Salt, 1.5 Tablespoons Honey, 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil, 1 Cup Milk
Directions: Begin by preheating the oven to 450 Degrees. Grind oatmeal in a food processor. In a large bowl, combine oatmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, dissolve honey in oil, then stir in the milk. Combine both mixtures and stir until a soft dough is formed. Form the dough into a ball, using a bit of flour to prevent sticking, and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Bake in preheated over for about 20 minutes.
