I gained some office experience by working with the files, surveys, and checking how the fingerprint system works for the background checks.

It was an amazing experience to help fundraise for cancer awareness. My grandfather from my mother's side died of cancer more than a decade ago, I only have flashy memories of him and every day I wish for him to be here with me. Thanks to this 5-kilometer walk, at least I could support many children not to feel the same way I am. I joined my high school's team, SAS West, a little bit without spirit knowing that I needed to wake up early on a Saturday; nonetheless, after the walk and many activities the place offered, I didn't feel anything else but joy and pride for attending such an amazing project that will use my contribution to save many lives.
I volunteered at the Doral family journal's workshop at MDC West Campus. I listened to the conference with United HomeCare's table and learned a lot about breast cancer.
I earned 6 certificates after completing the other half of the online programs offered by the Alzheimer's Association to develop my understanding of the topic. As expected, not only the disease was the main focus of the courses, but also the caregivers' detriments and their sacrifices regarding mental health and financial situation. Not only that but also training on how to approach a conversation with someone who's suffering from Alzheimer's. The catalog as a whole is a rich and diverse experience in which everyone can learn something different at the time of dealing with Alzheimer's; people suffering from the disease, caregivers, and future professionals, everyone can enjoy these presentations as much as I did.
The YouTube presentation of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) was quite interesting. As someone who is very close to individuals with Arthritis, this information will be handful for me in the future.
I continued my training with the AVUS Connect program, made a couple of calls connecting with United HomeCare's clients, and received my tablet to start reducing isolation in the elderly population.
I completed two 30-minute presentations about effective communication skills. Besides Alzheimer's, dementia is another topic that we as a community should be more aware of, we have to be ready if we need to have an effective conversation with an individual with dementia.
It was a fascinating interactive experience in which I saw multiple real-life scenarios and quizzed myself to learn the proper reactions a first responder must have in those situations.
I got the 2 CITI certificates to start doing research for MDC.
Throughout the last month, I've been having multiple meetings with my buddy Andrii, his English level has improved a lot just by talking to me and sharing his weekly experience. I encouraged him to speak as much as possible so he could practice and gain confidence; besides that, I gained a wonderful friend. In addition, I just got a new student, Diana, she's a fantastic person with whom I share multiple interests. In the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing more of my classes with my buddy.
