For this volunteer opportunity, we were put into groups to help clean different parts of the library. I dusted and polished bookshelves and other furniture throughout the library, cleaned windows, and disinfected/cleaned tables.
For the October ALD meeting, we brought old T-shirts and made dog toys to donate. In exchange for an hour of volunteer service.
For this volunteer opportunity, I decluttered, cleaned (swept, mopped), and reorganized the utility closet. After cleaning the utility closet, I made sure all of the cords on the appliances were wrapped up and not in the floor, I also swept the main floor.
For my social honors event, I attended the Spanish Heritage month recess. I was there for the last half, so the chips and churros were gone. I did get a chocolate marshmallow Ricolino, listened to Selena, and got to talk to a few Path students.
For my second honors event, I attended an Earth Day celebration in Hotz. We had tacos from Doomsday, I was given a reusable straw, and everyone had the opportunity to plant a succulent (I did)!! This was a pretty fun event and it was honestly refreshing!
Through the Refugees Awareness Day event, I walked around to different booths and learned more about the process that Refugees have to go through. The process is often long and tedious since refugees have many barriers: lack of transportation, communication barriers. Refugees may have a hard time enrolling kids into school, or getting a job because of all the legal forms involved as well as communication barriers( different language). I also learned about a nonprofit in NWA called "Canopy" who help welcome Refugees and get them settled in the area. Canopy also provides volunteer and internship opportunities. Overall this was a great and very informative opportunity!!
I donated canned goods and personal hygiene items to the Full Circle Food Pantry through the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society for a volunteer opportunity.
For the April ALD meeting we talked about upcoming leadership positions, and donated items for the Full Circle Food Pantry food drive.
