Mayfield bee check (3 native species). Enjoyed seeing other wildlife also. Temps a bit high, but that's summer in Texas!
hot. hummingbirds out in force and did see bumble bees and tiny bees, maybe carpenter (blurry image). posted to iNat. peacocks wandering about, also saw phoebe, cardinal, lesser goldfinch and a few insects besides bees. only visiting parking area, "latrine garden", and formal gardens this visit (not trails).
delighted to meet and chat with a couple of volunteer gardeners early during session when not much bee action happening yet and before the garden shut down for an event. walked the gardens, the garden by the "bathroom" (always a hotspot for bees for me), the lake trail, some of the creek trail, and meadow loop and out along the garden. It's a hot one as morning went away and time went fast as always.
nice cool misty rain, but not good for seeing any bees! offset by seeing a hawk, hummingbird and hearing frog chorus.
Very hot day (triple digits and humid). Bees were very skittish, too. I could not get as close as I would have liked. On the positive side, more native plants blooming.
Mayfield Preserve Park: little hot, but saw plenty of insects, and bees, to distract me from the heat. checked "latrine garden" and the gated garden area.
lovely day in the garden requiring patience to get native bee photos as they remain shy of people compared to honey bees.
