I cooked a family favorite meal and shared the recipe with everyone in the class so they can make it too if they want to.
I picked up groceries from my neighbor who is immune comprised and helped her wipe all of them down after with Clorox wipes. This took me an hour and a half as I had to wait for outside whole foods for 30 minutes before I could enter the building.
On April 4th, I did runs for 3 families, most of the things they required were basic supplies like water(lots of water), meat and vegetables, bread, tea, and coffee. These people were either +65, which means they weren't allowed to go out by law, or they didn't want to because they were old and thought it was too risky. While delivering the items, we had a chat with a few of them, they all seemed very happy that our compound is doing something to help them out.
I continued transcribing letters for the Freedmen's Bureau DC Field Office, which I enjoyed very much.
I was able to deliver groceries for a family of 4 who is struggling financially from the virus due to a lost job, and they were very grateful for the food and to be able to get help. I was glad I could help out and provide them some food security for a few weeks.
Due to the CVOID-19 pandemic, our instructor Dr. Tara Scully offered alternative ways to serve and receive hours during this time. I decided to help my elder neighbor with a spring cleanup of her flower beds. On the dates April 4-5 I cleaned out two large flowers, rid of dead leaves and debris. On the dates April 10-11, I filled the two flower beds with mulch.
It was a great session. I got to teach my brother a lot.
I transcribed documents from the Freedmen's Bureau for the Smithsonian, particularly letters for the DC Field Offices, Supt. for Washington and Georgetown.
