I volunteered virtually with the Free Minds Book Club blog for youth incarcerated as adults who are participating in book and writing clubs. I read a large variety of poems written by inmates and wrote back responses and feedback with regards to each specific poem, including places of strength and admiration as well as suggesting areas for revision.
For one hour of community service, I picked up and delivered groceries to my elderly neighbor.
On March 29, I went grocery shopping and then went to deliver it to my grandpa.
I went grocery shopping for my family as well as my grandparents. I woke up early in the morning to make sure that I would be around as few people as possible. After shopping, I wiped the groceries and put them away.
One weekend night, I decided to bake delicious Challah bread. This Jewish bread is something I've grown up with my whole life and only recently began to cook it at my home. This experience something went a little weird and the dough was rather liquidy. However, it still came out and rose!
I tutored a 7th grader Arina Polivoda US History today from 1:30 pm to 2:30 (1 full hour). We have covered the first 10 amendments in both English and Russian as she does not speak English well (her family moved to the US less than three months ago). It was challenging because I never tutored older classes, especially with a significant language barrier.
*I notified my TA about completing this hour*
Built a garden for my grandmother that she has wanted but has not been able to go outside.
I picked up groceries, wiped them down, and put them away for my Grandparents.
I collected food to donate to the emergency food bank drive at my church and dropped it off at the donation site outside.
I have been living with my friend for the last 3 weeks as I can not go back to my home country (India) due to the travel ban for service. I helped my friend’s father in yard work. My friend’s father just got this new house and the yard with bricks is very uneven. So, we are working on removing all the bricks and putting gravel and putting new bricks. We digged six inches, and covered it with gravel for the time being.
