The clients I assisted taught me a lesson about flexibility and problem solving. They were in a very tough position, and we were almost unable to help them, but all the volunteers worked together quickly to come up with solutions so that we could get them the help they desperately needed. These experiences are valuable to me, as I know the only way I can learn these things is through experience.

I got to assist clients that were dealing with heavy topics. It gave me the chance to practice connecting with people who are in the middle of a crisis. It is hard knowing what to say and how to say it, but I am very thankful that I get the opportunities to work on my communication skills in a safe, supportive environment.

Another fun day of Jeopardy, playing outside, and other activities.

I got the opportunity to run a booth educating people about tobacco hornworms. I spent the day talking to over 1,000 children and adults about the caterpillar, including information about their lifecycle, growth patterns, diet and habitat, and much more! It was a wonderful experience and allowed me to think critically about my pre-existing entomology knowledge, and also gave me confidence to teach others.

We did more activities with the Adventure Therapy Group. This week we got to get outside and play lots of games that involved running around! It was fun to play variations of games I had never heard of before.

We got to participate in fun team-building/connection activities led by the Adventure Therapy Group.

I got to reconnect with other volunteers who I had not seen in a long time. :)

Another fun day at YRCC!!

We went bowling at Ozark Lanes! I got to assist with teaching the kids how to bowl and making sure the whole trip went smoothly and orderly.
