Today we spent the first part of the day playing outside, a couple of the children asked me to play a make pretend game acting like we were working in an office. We then went inside and the children got to choose from a variety of activities such as playing on the computers, making bracelets, or watching a movie. I attended to the children who chose to watch the movie and helped to hand out popcorn that some of the other volunteers made for them.

I had a great day volunteering, and I got to assist with set up and facilitate various activities for the children to choose from. They got to pick between watching a Halloween movie, making bracelets, or playing 9 square. I primarily helped with setting up the movie watching space and helped with supervising the children as they enjoyed it. It was a nice, calm day that I very much enjoyed.

It was a super fun day to volunteer at the center because we spent the afternoon celebrating the YRCC's birthday! We all played several games, got to eat cake and pizza, and had a nice, carefree time. I got to assist by handing out food to the children and parents as they picked them up, and got to hand out a tiny trophy to all the children as they left as a way to help the remember the celebration. I was honored that I got to be involved, and truly enjoyed seeing all of the kids have so much fun!

I had another wonderful day volunteering and getting to know more of the children. I am getting more comfortable with the routine of things. I am still a bit shy and quiet so am working on being more confident. We spent a large portion of the afternoon playing various games outside, it was a beautiful day. I am trying to remember more of the kids names, as I tend to have a hard time remembering them all!

This was my first time volunteering at the center in over a year. I was glad to get back and see how many things have changed since the last time I was there. It was also nice recognizing some of the same kids that were there previously. I had lots of fun and got to catch up with and meet several of the children and staff members. My first day made me more excited for the semester and to get back into the routine.

Today was the first day interviewing with the reduced budget, and the decisions that had to be made regarding how much help each person could receive were difficult.

A special guest came to the center and showed the children how to make monsters/creatures out of different shapes of paper. I got to observe and assist with the process.

I got to spend part of the time reading with some of the children and then got to play some games.

I got the chance to teach one of the new volunteers how to interview as she shadowed me. I feel like my experiences have now come full circle.

Another fun day of doing various activities with the kids and playing jeopardy!
