    I volunteer at my cousins pediatric therapy clinic in Springdale. She is an occupational therapist there and I help to clean around the clinic, watch kids while they are waiting to be picked up, and help to organize materials. I am there for 3 hour 15 minute shifts (2:30-5:45)and have done this 4 times so far for a total of 13 hours. I attached the texts where she asked me to come in.

    I went to The New School to do hearing screenings from 1:00-2:30. I really enjoyed learning how to do a hearing screening and was able to see students from 2, 4, 6, and 8th grade.

    While home this weekend, I took the time to complete two of the case history packets on my parents. I asked them all of the questions, filled out their answers, and explained to them the purpose of all the questions. This was good practice for when I will have to do case histories as an OT.

    I had my dad do the online hearing screening through shoebox as I have noticed that his hearing has began to decline. Based on his results, I believe he should go to an audiologist to check this. This was a neat tool that could definitely be used as a preventative measure and to raise awareness about hearing loss.

    I ordered a Dr. Mom Otoscope from amazon and was able to use this to do a shallow otoscopy on my roommates. I also taught my friends how to use them and what they were looking at when using it. They all seemed to have normal ears, but it was fun to be able to teach them about otoscopy!

    I shared the ear candling video with my friends Mara and Aileen as well as my parents. They all thought it was super interesting! Mara said that she had done ear candling before and thought that it had worked, so she was really surprised by the video. I explained to them some of the other options for removing ear wax and suggested seeing a professional.
