At the food pantry, I helped sort out different types of produce and organize them into separate groups. The people who worked at the pantry benefitted from my service because they were able to carry out other tasks while I sorted, and the people receiving the food I sorted benefitted from my work. This experience made me grateful that I am in a position where I get to help others.

During this event I filled bottles of shampoo, folded clothes, and helped serve the community meal. The homeless people that receive service from 7hills and the workers at 7hills both benefitted from my services. This experience taught me how many "little" things I take for granted and prompted me to consider what life is like for these people without everyday access to the "little" things.
During this event, I sorted and color-coded clothes and cleaned up the clothing racks. My service benefited not just the customers who will have a cleaner and more organized shopping experience, but also the employees at Potters House who don't have to go through and organize all the racks among their other jobs. While I was working, a lady asked me for advice on some of the clothing she had picked out and I helped her decide what made her look and feel best. This helped me remember that it doesn't take much to make someone's day.
During this event I got to help the Restore shop prepare for a new paint job. I moved around paintings, took items off the walls, and threw away items they no longer needed. My service helped the workers at the Restore shop as they prepared for a new paint job for an updated space for their customers. This event helped me remember that a little bit of work can go a long way to help someone else.
During this event I got to restock the food in the pantry and help make sure the guests got the correct amount of food. The guests at the food pantry were able to shop around in a fully stocked pantry due to my service and received help in getting the correct amount of food per person. This event helped me realize how blessed I am to not have to worry about where my next meal is coming from.
For this event, I got to help set up snacks for the kids in the group, do a little tutoring, and watch them play during their free time. I got to help a sweet little boy practice writing and reading different letters of the alphabet and I got to play soccer and tag with two of the kids before they went home. This experience reminded me of the joys of being a child and how rewarding it can be to put a smile on someone's face.
For this event, I helped prep boxes of food to give out to the people that came, and I also helped serve the community meal to the Salvation Army's residents. Not only was I able to help the sweet cook Ms. Geneva, but I was also able to serve the resident's and guests at the Salvation Army. This experience was a reminder to be appreciative of all that I have but it was also a reminder of the importance of community that is sometimes forgotten about in the bustle of life. This was a place where people gathered together to share a meal with each other and enjoy each others company.
