They provided us with great information, like myths about human trafficking, how human trafficking and human smuggling are different, how sports are connected to human trafficking, not all trafficking is “snatch and go” and a lot of the times it happens in classrooms, workplaces, etc. They also gave us links to resources we should use if we want to learn more and encouraged us to speak up whenever we see something suspicious.
They just spoke to us about the requirements to stay in the program and clarified the recently asked questions in the group me chat. I believe it was necessary for me to attend this session because I was reminded of what events we can use to submit our hours and other questions that might be useful to me in the future, like bookstore purchases, deadlines, etc.
At first there were complications with the audio but then they made it work. The speaker was very confident and showed that he enjoyed his job and making Maryland a better place. He spoke about his experiences and also showed us videos regarding his campaign and when he was sworn in. It was refreshing to see a young passionate politician and it gave me hope for the future. I enjoyed the discussion regarding the recent election as well and it was interesting to see the election from a delegates perspective.
It was fun, they had Jenga and played music. For the food we ate pizza and they also served us some cookies and brownies with lemonade. I got to network with people I have never met before and it was overall a really fun experience.
W.O.W. and DMSI all met around 7:15 near the bus stop to count attendance for the Delaware College Tour. We boarded around 7:30 and got there around 9. It lasted around 4 hours and we also ate at the cafeteria in Delaware State University. It was pretty peaceful overall and I was able to meet with people I had not met before. I also got to understand more about the nursing programs within Delaware State and learned that there’s actually a downtown campus where all nursing related classes are held. I’m still on the lookout for Universities but this one definitely caught my eye.
