This week I got to know the EMPOWER students I will be mentoring this semester! I had two sessions, one on Tuesday and one on Thursday. I chatted with my mentees about how their semester has been so far, the classes they are excited for, their hobbies and interests, their goals for the year, and their academic strengths and weaknesses since I will be an academic mentor. I am looking forward to forming a connection with these students and working with them throughout the semester!

I had a great time volunteering with Be B.O.LD! We packed bags of food for families in Springdale.
I had a great time volunteering with Dream B.I.G on Make a Difference Day! We decorated and assembled self care kits for middle school girls in the area. I was grateful to spend time with other students who are passionate about helping our community.
I had a great month of meeting with my EMPOWER mentee! We’ve been talking about her goals, what she has accomplished this semester, and writing and drawing in our journals.
I had a great time working with my mentee this month! We’ve been working on setting and achieving specific goals. We’ve also done a lot of crafting!
I met with my mentee and we started working on her health and wellness goals! At our first meeting we talked about our shared interests and our similar music tastes, then I walked her to her cooking class. At our second meeting we got some steps in and went to the gym, and at our most recent meeting we made personalized journals and discussed the importance of mental health. We’ve had so much fun so far and I can’t wait to continue meeting with her!
I really really enjoyed spending some time at Mount Sequoyah on Make a Difference Day. I worked with a group in the dining hall to move chairs and tables into storage, and then I pulled weeds in the garden.
I had so much fun making self care kits for middle school girls! I got crafty while making the bags and met a lot of other people who were passionate about helping the community.
