The Student Honors Convocation was truly fantastic! I was invited by one of the PTK Officers to this event, and it was so nice seeing him give a speech and be awarded for his hard work. Honestly, seeing all of the students get their flowers from their professors was sweet, I love those sort of ceremonies.

I really enjoyed this meeting! It was engaging in a nice way, what with the needed responses from the audience and the subject matter we went over. My favorite part was probably when we read through the mock emails and broke down the problems with some of them. It was nice hearing from others and getting pointers about how to write a good professional email. I really liked this session!
This I was a very interesting meeting! I enjoyed hearing about how finances and hip hop often crossover. I know money does often come up in songs, but it was nice having someone well versed in Financial Literacy actually break it down. Alongside just getting good financial advice like the importance of budgeting, making choices based on need and not FOMO, and investing. Very well done meeting!
The performances were beautiful! The passion of each dancer was clear, especially in the harder hitting songs like “Her Holy Water”. I feel my favorite performances made great use of both the skills of the dancer and the lights try would be dancing with. It was a great time overall and the performers did wonderfully!
This training session was very nice! My main takeaway was the process for disputing denied verifications and the time one has to verify their hours. I'll keep these in mind during the semester to ensure I get all my hours logged!
Todays meeting was focusing on Shame and Self Doubt. We had discussions about recognizing those kinds of feelings and different methods to curb them. Like taking a breath and recognizing that we're being mean to ourselves and using different language instead! One discussion I liked was the discussion on validating our feelings without validating an unjust reaction to them. It was a good discussion!
This was a good refresh for the semester! The Kahoot playing while we were learning the information was engaging, and I hope we do it again during the next mandatory Promise meeting. The most important piece of information for me was the different ways to gain impact hours like through club engagement, attending workshops, or school events!
This meeting was hosted by Mr. Wontae Neal and Ms. Chantal Dones, covering the important parts of transferring to UMD for all Strive students. The most important things covered in this meeting were the importance of gateway courses when transferring, and ensuring communication between yourself and a UMD advisor to ensure a smooth transfer. This was a great meeting to get acquainted with Mr. Neal and set a meeting with him about your possible transfer.
This event was pretty good. We mainly went over the changes made this semester to the Promise program, like the switch from service hours to engagement hours. The most important thing to me was the registration deadline of Dec 12th and the bookstore Spring deadline of Jan 30 (online). I hope everyone has a nice holiday!
The event was fun! The Body of Christ Club had us watch the film "The Forge". It was a pretty good movie about a young man named Isaiah learning to let go of his anger towards the past and becomes a disciple of God. I liked his relationship with his boss/father figure Mr. Moore, they had cool scenes together. It was nice hanging out with friends to end the semester!
