    Science Children's Books

Writing a children's book on African American figures in STEM was a very enlightening experience. The book offered a chance to celebrate notable African Americans within the STEM field and inspire young minds. My book emphasized the importance of following your dreams and gave courage to many kids showing them there is success on the other side for people who look as they do. I felt good after writing this book because I was able to incorporate the things I learned from Biology 102 into a project that is beneficial not only to me but to others.

    Capitol Area Food Bank

Yesterday, I volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank and we helped package food for 213 senior citizens in the DMV area. Volunteering felt good and being able to help people in my hometown made me want to do it again. All the food that needed to be packaged made me realize the food scarcity that is happening in our current world. If more people volunteer and donate this could benefit our society exponentially. Volunteering is always needed in every community and giving back is never something that someone can't do.
