I helped little girls learn how to read, write, rhyme, and spell. I learned that children can be very stubborn, but with patience and laughter, you can help them learn anything. I learned that I really like connecting with young girls, and I liked giving them life advice when they asked what it's like to grow up.
I was placed in the pantry area for my shift, where I helped sort and throw out any old and moldy bread from the shelves, while organizing the new incoming bread. I also helped clean out the refrigerator area due to the power outages they had, and I spent the last bit of my time sorting some things in the freezer area.
Throughout the three days that I volunteered, I was able to help out in the kitchen, pantry, and dock area sorting clothes. I felt like I made an impact at the Siena Francis Shelter. [I DID NOT VOLUNTEER THROUGH SCSJ, I DID IT THROUGH SIENA FRANCIS DIRECTLY]. Feedback: make a check in area at the back of the building.
I participated in a Park Cleanup at Bemis Park. I was able to make an impact in the environment by cleaning up trash.
