This was my first time volunteering there and it was great. I helped stack cans in the back room and organized them as well. Then I helped serve lunch, which was snack lunches, to the visitors. I also helped clean up the kitchen after lunch was served.
I helped collect and pick up garbage with the business fraternity I am in, Alpha Kappa Psi. We went to Bemis Park and the whole fraternity joined. We used rakes, pickers/grabbers, and trash bags to pick up trash in order to clean the park.
This is my favorite community service activity. It is making encouraging and fun cards for children in the hospital. This semester I have made cards for kids in the Omaha hospitals and the Madison, Wisconsin hospitals. I, along with many friends (Golden Kelly, Griffin Egan), draw and write on the cards saying, "You Rock" or "You are Awesome." Our goal is to make the children know that people are thinking about them and that they are not alone. We use all sorts or colors, shapes, and stickers to make cards look fun.
This was an online service activity that I have done for multiple semesters. On the website, users can track animals and watch what the animals do. As the volunteer, you mark the time that you see that animal and what the action that animal is taking, whether it is eating, drinking, or fighting with another animal. This website helps biologists study animals and their actions. The users help find the animals so the biologist does not have to waste hours upon hours looking for animals in a video that may not be there.
