Attending the Owl Life Expo was a really eye-opening experience for me. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by how many students showed up and how much energy filled the event. At first, it felt overwhelming because the crowd was so large and everyone seemed eager to get involved. But after walking around, I started to see the Expo as a great opportunity to connect with both old friends and new people. What I enjoyed the most was being able to explore the variety of clubs offered on campus. Some were more hobby-based, which looked fun and gave me ideas for things to do in my free time. Others had more of a career focus, and that really caught my interest because I could see how joining them might help me in the future. I even found a few clubs that I hadn’t considered before but now want to learn more about.
I’ll remember to remain in good academic standing with the scholarship, aim for 2.5 and above GPA. Stay in contact with advisors and look out for the biweekly emails from promise scholarship team.
The end-of-the-year Promise Scholarship Event quickly detailed the expectations to hold as a Promise Scholarship student, as well as future and current expectations. The scholarship team also clarified what needs to be met for the requirements and criteria. Also went over implementations for credits and give pulse hours for every semester. It also went through the graduation requirements and what to expect for upcoming graduates for next semester.
Largo Gathering of Men on Tuesday (4/22) and Wednesday (4/23) from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in Lanham Hall 125 for 5-Year Plan presentations!
I didn’t present at the Largo Gathering of Men this week, but I’m really glad I showed up. The event took place on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 22–23) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Lanham Hall Room 125, and even just being in the room was powerful. It was inspiring to hear other students stand up and share their goals, their struggles, and the plans they’re putting in place to build the future they want.
Each presentation was different—some guys talked about getting into grad school, others about starting businesses, traveling, or giving back to their communities. What really stood out to me was how real and personal the stories were. You could tell a lot of thought went into each one, and that these weren’t just assignments—they were life blueprints.
Attending the Virtual Career and Internships Fair on Friday, April 18, 2025, was a valuable experience that helped me explore potential career paths and clarify my personal goals. Engaging with employers from various industries—especially those in Liberal & Creative Arts and Behavioral & Social Sciences—gave me insight into the types of roles available and the qualifications they seek. I was also able to ask questions, gain a clearer understanding of internship expectations, and discover opportunities I hadn’t previously considered.
This event helped me reflect on my strengths and areas I’d like to develop further, both academically and professionally. It motivated me to take more intentional steps toward my career planning, such as refining my résumé, practicing interview skills, and setting short-term goals to prepare for future internships or job applications. Overall, the fair played a key role in helping me feel more confident and focused in my journey toward a fulfilling career.
Every intently engaged college community has a responsive student government, and this semester’s SGA President Questionnaire was not only instrumental for student engagement, but also for identifying prospective representatives. With the intent of fostering informed choices, the SGA presidential candidates offered guided advancement of their expression through their visions, priorities, and qualifications due to the set structure of the questionnaire. Like every contemporary organization, SGA has embraced the use of technology. With a handful of clicks, students could access information submitted by the candidates on the shared platforms, thus promoting ease and saving time.
