During this service event, I had the opportunity to set up Christmas trees to bring a warm, home-like feel to the facility for the elderly residents during the holidays. It was heartwarming to help create a festive and comforting atmosphere for them to enjoy this special time of year.

Today, I had the opportunity to be part of my first panel, where I discussed the challenges of transitioning from freshman to sophomore year. I shared how I balance academics, extracurriculars, and social life, while staying motivated. It was rewarding to answer questions and guide the freshmen, remembering that I was once in their position.
Today, I had the chance to attend another Lunch Buddies event at Bessemer Elementary School. It was great to see familiar faces and catch up with the students about what’s been going on in their lives.
Today, I had the opportunity to attend Mr. Sophomore’s service event, "Senior Support Squad." At the senior center, I played games with the residents, gave hand massages, and even had a meaningful conversation with one of them. As always, it was incredibly rewarding to be a part of such an experience, and I look forward to the next one.
The Girl Scout Lock-In was an amazing experience! We made mouth models using construction paper, marshmallows, glue, and some fun extra tools. Throughout the night, we played dodgeball, made milkshakes, and decorated affirmation cups with stickers that said things like, "I am enough," "I am smart," and "I am beautiful." Being part of this event was incredibly rewarding because I got to teach young African American girls about the importance of oral health, the value of having fun, and how to speak positively about themselves.
The campus tour with Hairston Middle School was a great success! Although I was only involved in the closing session, where the students listened to speakers from the Honors College, it was clear that the kids had an enjoyable time. They were still engaged by the end of the tour and had many thoughtful questions for the Honors College representatives.
This was probably my fifth time attending Hairston Middle School for their after-school program. During this session, the students created a racetrack for a car to drive around. They began by sketching the route on paper, and then we voted on the best design. Afterward, we moved to a larger space to build the actual track. Each student had the opportunity to drive a remote-controlled car around the racetrack. The goal of this activity was to teach the kids about engineering and emphasize the importance of increasing diversity in the field to help create innovations like cars and racetracks.
I enjoyed teaching the kids how to use their creative minds on how to make a spaceship and teach them the importance of engineering tactics.
