I believe out of all of my certifications, this one was the most impactful. I say this because I did it last and it encompassed all of the other ones I did on this website. It also connected most to my in person social work practice I class I took this semester. I love the usage of the strengths perspective in this line of work. I didn’t realize the amount of optimism that is required to work in this line of work. I personally didn’t think I had a lot of optimism until I took the time to reflect on myself and the thoughts I have that pertain to certain people’s situations and the issues that come up with. I react with a very different perspective than a lot of my friends because of their own personal beliefs. This field of work has really begun to shape my own personal and professional perspective throughout many aspects of my life.

Impacts
This was a certification course about recognizing and reporting child abuse which was a great refresher for my ALDHR mandated reporting certification I took about six months prior.
First time volunteering with Bridgeways. Our time ran over some due to it being the first time for all of the volunteers

Bridgeway's Links-Up mentoring program Orientation/Training
This was my first actual introduction to the Bridgeways organization. I was nervous at first for the entirety of it all because I have never worked with children. Children are such fragile and moldable tiny humans, so I know that the work I do within this organization will be impactful. In this orientation, I was very happy to find out that I will be guaranteed to get all of my required hours and more. I heavily value the experiences that this and other volunteer experiences bring me within my social work career. I am excited to work with these kids and help them to know that they are incredible human beings and capable of great things.
