I had an amazing time during the second shift of the FMSC food packing event. I met some really wonderful students my second shift and we all got along really well. I even met a friend I went to lunch with before this shift. When the event was over we talked more about the initiative and sharing the word. We even prayed over the food before we packed it up. That was a really moving part of the day and reminded me again what the entire reasoning for my day there. Truly life changing day!

My morning shift at FMSC was great! I met really nice people both attending UCA and from the community. I learned a lot about FMSC’s initiative and the impact they have on the world!
I completed the Arkansas/Missouri volunteer orientation virtual meeting. We received 1 hour for attempting this meeting and participating.
I volunteered at the MC’s annual reading day pancake breakfast! We passed out coffee, churros, tea, and hot cocoa at the cart from the honors college. I enjoyed socializing with all the people who came by and the other volunteers!
I attended the last honors college recess carnival/dog show. It was so cute seeing all the little dogs, eating the popcorn and cotton candy! I also grabbed some sticky notes, dog treats for my dog and scantrons.
I donated blood, and did power red! This was worth two service hours in this RSO.
I attended the Hotz drop in for pre-med students. I talked about studying abroad as a premed, possibly changing my major and setting up and advising appointment. I was also directed to some helpful people in the HC staff such as Johnathan Langley and Dr. Irvey.
I LOVED volunteering for this event. I got to plan and present a project in genetics to the elementary and middle school aged girls. We made bracelets associated with the traits we had. I helped with check in, set up and take down, serving lunch, clear king up lunch, and cleaning up supplies. I even participated in an interview for the newspaper!
The Medical Career Fair was very enjoyable for me, I met doctors, nurses, and pre-med students that all gave me a plenty of information, answered all fo my questions, and send me off with great pieces of advice. Following the fair I was inclined to join the Red Cross club on campus after speaking to the president thoroughly, look into jobs next year as a PCT at Washington regional, and consider medical scribing along my journey or considering a gap year. I also spoke to two very wonder physicians who work in the Pat walker health center gynecology clinic, and one recommended the book "Becoming a Doctor" by anthropologist/physician Melvin Konner.
I had a wonderful day at the lifestyles performing arts center! We started our day by dancing to just dance as a light and fun exercise. After that of of the staff members allowed me to introduce myself to everyone I'd be working with that day. I hung out with different subgroups after that and asked just get to know you questions. We then broke out into our classes and I went with Ms. Nancy's art class. I helped a student with an activity in the back and also aided Ms. Nancy in passing out supplies. After the first class of the day was lunch and I had a wonderful time socializing with everyone. I got to talk to more people about their hobbies, talents, and about their personal lives. After the lunch I went back to Ms. Nancy's art room and we did the same craft and then watched a movie until everyone was picked up. I enjoyed lifestyles so much, everyone was very warm and inviting and the atmosphere was comforting. I look forward to volunteering here again in the future!
