I purchased five toys to be given as Christmas gifts for children at the NWA Children's shelter. It was so fun and rewarding to be able to pick out toys/ items that these children wanted for Christmas who probably have no one giving them a gift. It made me realize how blessed and grateful I need to be, especially around this time of year. These organizations really do make such a huge difference in the lives of these children in shelters and I am thankful to be a part of it!

Habitat for Humanity is one of my favorite ways to give back to the NWA community. Activities mainly include cleaning and organizing the items that are being donated, but it is most important to be a warm welcome to the people who are coming to shop. The best thing about volunteering at Habitat for Humanity is you get to directly see the impact that this organization is making when customers come in to buy various furniture and household items. I love being able to see how happy a customer is when they find their perfect item!

This volunteer experience was very beneficial to my knowledge about refugees in the Northwest Arkansas area. They shared so many opportunities and ways to get involved with the community through organizations like Canopy. Overall, it was a great learning experience and something I have developed a passion about. I am so happy I got to learn about how we as students can make an impact on refugees in our area!
