Brinda's mentor groups and their mentees went to a community garden near Lady Bird Lake and volunteered! We all had a blast! It was great learning about how the garden came about and how it is maintained.

Handed out Jim Jims for the ULN'19 kickoff leadership series. It was great to see some familiar faces and new ones! Catching up with my old mentees was a plus!
Handed out Jim Jims to the new ULN members for their first ULN'20 leadership series. It was a joy to see all of the new ULN members and really see how engaged and excited they were for ULN.
The event went great! I originally signed up to be part of the welcome team and to be a floater but I was reassigned to the ULN Mentor booth/table to handle the volunteer check-ins and to talk to those who were interested in becoming a ULN Mentor. I had a wonderful time talking to those of the ULN'19 who were really interested in becoming a mentor and answering questions about what we do as a ULN Mentor.
It was a great event! We started near Clark Field and split off into two groups, one going North and one going South. Each group pretty much just walked down Waller Creek collecting any trash that was around.
The event was great! It was very enjoyable for both the volunteers and participants. What I primarily did was assisting in making sure this event went smoothly. I helped organize the location for the meet-up, the transportation, the event itself, and the transportation back.
Graffiti Park Clean Up
As one of the ULN mentors, I assisted in organizing and creating the event itself. At the park, I assisted in cleaning up just as everyone did also. Other than that, I brought water to ensure everyone stayed hydrated in the heat. Overall, the event was very successful and very enjoying, it really brought everyone together.
I primarily helped with the preparations and post-clean up. As usual, I assisted in getting people to the location (directions/ushering). I ran and did multiple errands while double-checking to make sure that we had enough tools and supplies for everything and everyone who attended. Once all of the hard work was done, everyone (volunteers and hosts) got together, had a meal, and socialized with each other to end the day!
