Really grateful to all the volunteers that registered.
Disappointed about gusty winds cancellation I had to make the call for to keep volunteers safe.
A few volunteers missed the cancellation memo and showed up and really wanted to pick up some trash, so we got at least 6 bags of trash from park and along the trail. Volunteers encouraged to do a trash pick up on the trail on another day to still give back in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and in celebration of his birthday. We hope to have better weather for next year's event around MLK Day.

group of 7 volunteers pulled trash and bulk items from Walnut Creek Nature Trail near the Copperfield Byers Entrance in east Austin and painted over graffiti. Got our feet wet but also got many of the plastic trash bags and such hanging on the opposite creek bank in the plants. Tricky step is getting our trash haul picked up, but we think we found a solution using $ from our APF Friends of Copperfield Neighborhood account, wish us luck!
Hoping an easier solution for getting volunteer trash picked up from city land after an event will exist in future.
Please count this event as one of our required events for adopting a creek in our area of the city

Some difficult to remove bulk items remain in the creek for another solution, so stay tuned!

For Friends of Copperfield Nature Trail: picked up bag of trash one day after official Love Where you Live Day on Copperfield Nature Trail South of Shropshire entrance. Always more trash to get on another day along this part of trail. Our official creek adoption stretch is a bit north of this area on the trail, but this area always needs attention.
four stars 'cause it is hot hot hot in August! Lovely tree shade, flowers, butterflies along the way.

Copperfield Nature Trail Atterbury pond and Peggotty trail entrance got some IMPD at a Distance attention by filling up a couple of trash bags. Picking up trash was like a scavenger hunt and surprisingly fun! Always interesting to see the most popular beer brand among those that litter (Modelo this year). Got my spouse in on the fun for the Peggotty "swamp" pick up and had to leave some for another day when bag got full. Got to see some of the fall color while out on the trail.
