I spent three hours working at the UT Concho Community Garden on Sunday, October 5, from nine o’clock in the morning to noon. I worked with some other new volunteers to build a new compost bin, because they were planning to build a shed where the old compost bins used to be. First, we had to flatten the ground where the new compost bins would be. We used shovels to redistribute the dirt, pulling out weeds and moving large rocks as we dug. After we finished making a level surface, we used some wooden pallets to make four compost bins. Then I helped to dismantle the old compost bins, carrying the old pallets outside of the community garden.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience. I enjoyed working outside and I feel like I actually accomplished something because I helped to build something so useful. I already look forward to doing it again later in the semester.

Today I got to help clean up the UT Concho Community Garden. My tasks was to pull out the weeds and water the plants.Pulling out the weeds was very difficult but the garden looked so much better afterwards. I enjoyed working at the UT Concho Garden because everyone was so nice and willing to help each other.
