The mission statement was that they recognize and support every persons right to be included in the life of the community. The second speaker was from Omni Center and her name was Tiffany Gladys. She spoke about how we all have our differences and come from different backgrounds but we all can weave a wiser world.

I learned so much about 2 organizations that provide great opportunities to serve the community. The Arkansas Support Network was very interesting to me because I am majoring in psychology and they offered lots of opportunities and internships focusing on behavioral health and mental health. I would definitely be interested in finding out more information about their internships. Both of these organizations got me more excited to serve my NWA community.
From todays FYI event, I got to listen to two lovely women who told us about the organizations they work with and I was able to learn about a marketing internship with Tenille Hunter that I am very interested in. Many volunteer and work opportunities were mentioned that I will definitely be working to get more information on and hopefully be able to help!
in this zoom, I learned about what programs they focus on which are living services, personal care, vocational services, center for enrichment, autism services, family support services, and behavioral health services. This zoom was very informational.
I personally loved this experience and I will definitely be joining the other zoom from now on! I love how this is a great way for students on campus to get involved in the community and learn about the available volunteer opportunities that there are. personally, I am interested in the first speaker and to maybe becoming a intern for the marketing spot! I loved how their organization makes everyone feel welcome!
Arkansas Support Network serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. They advocate for rights and inclusion for these specific individuals. They attend homes a lot for direct help and they also help foster children. They have tons of volunteer and internship opportunities for anyone.
Omni Center advocates for peace, justice, and ecology. They host events to bring the community together to create a wiser world. They have been working to bring students in. They have events like Earth day, Radio show, NWA time exchange, and Mayday community kitchen.
I joined a zoom hosted by the Volunteer Action Committee called Find Your Impact. They had representatives from 2 nonprofit organizations that spoke about ways we could get involved in the NWA community. Each representative spoke about their organization including their mission, what they do each day, and how we can volunteer or donate to their cause. Overall, I found this extremely informative because it gave me insight to more volunteer opportunities in our community.
