Volunteering at the Compassion House was a great experience. We cleaned around the house and it felt great to help others.
While volunteering at the Compassion House, I was able to reflect on our service to the many young teenage girls who are persevering through a difficult situation. I was curious to know their stories and the thought that I could make a difference in their day just by raking was motivated me to work hard. I also thought a lot about my aunt and how happy and proud she would be to know that I was volunteering in a mission she was very passionate about. In Colombia, my aunt worked really hard to improve impoverished communities in Huila, Colombia. Her main focus was to provide support and to help improve the lives of teenage mothers. When she passed away many communities lamented her leaving, so it makes me really happy to see that there are still people who share my aunt's mission and whose non-profit organization can help improve the lives of many young women.
