This was my 4th time at the CSC and my experience was different than the previous times. One of the clients (a child) was left by her mom after a therapy session and needed someone to sit with her while she waited. I LOVED talking to her and tried to be very mindful of the questions I asked and how I asked them to be careful of the things she may have experienced that I was unaware of. She was so sweet!!!

CSC is in the process of moving buildings. last time I was there I got to sort through more files and separate forensic dvds into different piles if they are disclosed vs not disclosed.

During my third visit to the children's safety center, I looked through files sorting them for Debee. I distinguished whether or not the child made a disclosure, what year the case was from, and if it was a child on child. This helps Debee to determine what she needs to shred vs keep. It was very sad to see what these children have experienced but empowering to know that I am helping people who are helping them.

Similar to last week, my service entailed going through more case files as the information is digitalized for the new facility. As the organization prepares for the move, there are files from years back that are filed in boxes. These files have to be stored in case the forensic interviewers working at the facility are called to testify in court for the child's case in the future. Often times, these cases do not go to trial for several years which means the evidence needs to be kept for longer periods of time. As I was going through these files, I was considering how difficult it would be to await justice for these awful acts done against victims. As a parents or even the victim yourself, I can only attempt to empathize with how emotionally disruptive it must feel to process all that has happened and the span of time that it takes to work these matters through the legal system. It encouraged me to have more gratituted for my circumstances.
