The center is still moving out all of its furniture and supplies to the new building! In a week, they will be moving to a location closer to Fayetteville to a newer building. My role for the day was to take out all of the shoes, storage containers, and miscellaneous items left in the storage room. They were setting out these items for families to take if they would like them rather than throwing them out. There were also drinks that I moved out and organized that families could take home. Individuals from Canopy came to take furniture that won't be taken to the new center, so I helped them load up! This new center will allow them to more efficiently provide resources and assist people with the space.
I did some organizing this time around as well. I helped clean out and pack up all of the office supplies to take to their new location. This was the busiest I have ever seen the Children's Safety Center. There was a family of 5 siblings and I got to paint their hands and put them on a canvas to take to the new building and hang on the wall. I got to learn a little about each of them, one of them asked me how I got to work there and I told her the story about my HDFS class and volunteering! I also played with the therapy dog Cramer to help him burn off some energy, and because he is just TOO CUTE!!
I loved getting stuffed animals and thinking about how the kids faces would light up receiving them!
