J.J. Harris Elementary Book Distributions

Thank you for signing up to volunteer at our 2026 Spring Book Distributions! We are so excited to have you join us at J.J Harris Elementary School.

Each spring, students at our partner schools choose 12 free books to take home, for keeps! Your time and energy help make that magic possible.

As a volunteer, you will be helping by:

• Set up and arrange books in a fun, shoppable layout
• Restock tables as classes rotate through
• Support our checkout process (counting books to ensure they have 12 and asking a few short survey questions)

Logistics! (PLEASE READ)

Dress Code 

• Please wear shorts that are longer than your fingertips at your side and avoid low-cut or revealing clothing. (Synopsis of CCSD Volunteer Dres Code)

Parking

• Parking at schools is limited, so please account for the time it will take to secure parking and walk into the building.
• Carpooling is encouraged whenever possible.

Bring your Driver’s License

•  A valid Driver’s License is required for entry; check in at the school’s front office. Please do not forget it!
• After signing in at the front office, you’ll be directed to the school library, where the book magic happens!

Stay for your full shift 

• Volunteer shifts are scheduled around class visits. Volunteers must stay for the entire shift. If something arises, please notify us as soon as possible at volunteer@booksforkeeps.org

Where do I park?

Where do I go?

Enter through the school’s front entrance (shown in the parking map above) and check in at the front office with your Driver’s License. Staff will direct you to the media center.

What should I wear? 

Think comfortable and school-appropriate! Check out our outfit guide here. 

Jeans, longer shorts, skirts or dresses, and t-shirts are all great options

Please NO shorts that are shorter than your fingertips at your side <3

Is there a training?

Yes! The first 10 minutes of your shift include a required orientation. Please arrive on time so you don’t miss important information.

What should I bring?

Your Driver’s License (required for entry) & a water bottle
