About
2 volunteers needed per day
Before a volunteer and start their hours with the Center they MUST complete the flowing pre- requirements:
1. a limited criminal background check must be on file with the center
2. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, a google form sent to them by the Center's Education Coordinator.
3. All volunteers must complete a video orientation.
The primary role of volunteers is staff and student support. This can present itself in many different ways. Below is an overview of the "daily operations" and a volunteer's role within the different phases of the day.
daily operations:
3PM PM-3:40 PM:
- South View Elementary arrives between 3 PM-3:15PM
- West View Elementary arrives between 3:45 PM- 4PM
During this time students engage in guided free time or start homework, if needed. During this time volunteers are encouraged to participate in the guide free time activities with the students or assist with homework. It is the objective of volunteers to engage with students at all times to build successful mentoring relationships.
4 PM- 4:30 PM: snack time
During this time the elementary students will need support in the transition from activity, to clean up, to snack time readiness. Volunteers will support them in these transitions by molding expected behaviors and reminding students of the routine. During this time volunteers will also support staff in passing out meals, monitoring behaviors etc.
4:30 PM- 5:30 PM: homework time/ activity time
During this time volunteers are encouraged to participate in the activities with the students or assist with homework, as needed. It is the objective of volunteers to engage with students at all times to build successful mentoring relationships. In addition, supporting instructors to ensure an engaging and educational experience.
