    Capitol Area Food Bank

I volunteered at the Capital Area Food Bank in Virginia, where I helped sort donated food into boxes for families in need. During my time there, I organized different types of food items to make sure each box was balanced and ready for distribution. I worked with other volunteers to check expiration dates, separate canned goods, and package everything neatly for delivery. The experience taught me how much teamwork and organization go into making sure people in the community have access to food. I also learned how small actions, like sorting and packing, can make a big difference for families facing food insecurity. Overall, volunteering at the food bank was a meaningful experience that made me feel more connected to my community and reminded me of the importance of helping others whenever I can.

    Capitol Area Food Bank

I had a really good time volunteering at the Capital Area Food Bank on October 16th from 2:30 to 8:30. During those six hours, I helped prepare and serve food in different neighborhoods. After giving out the food, we spent time playing ball and coloring with the kids, which made the day even more fun. This experience taught me how important teamwork is and how helping others can make a big difference. It also connects to biology because food gives our bodies the nutrients we need to stay healthy. When people don’t get enough food or the right nutrients, it can affect their growth, energy, and immune system. Seeing that in real life helped me understand how biology relates to health and nutrition. Overall, volunteering made me appreciate what I have and reminded me how important it is to care for others in my community.
