PGCC Women's Soccer vs Montgomery College (MD)

This game actually started at 5 p.m., and I arrived 30 minutes early, so I got to see the boys play, and they didn't end up winning that game. This girls' game was an interesting watch because the girls wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month; they warmed up in all pink, and then as they played, they wore pink leg sleeves. The score in the first quarter was 0-1, with the guests taking the lead, and in the second quarter it was 0-2, with the guests taking the lead also. In the remaining 30 minutes of the game, the score was 1-2, with the Owls getting their first point.

Stress, Burnout, and the Pressure to Succeed (Mental Health/Wellness Mini-Session

One thing that stuck with me from this presentation is that stress may pass, but burnout signals a need for change. That statement will help me pay more attention to burnout signs. One thing I learned was that if you don't get enough sunlight, you can get a sun lamp to help you get your daily dose of vitamin D. The last thing I learned was that PGCC's mental health office offers 8 free sessions per semester for all four semesters.

AA vs AS vs AAS Degrees (Academic Wellness - Mini-Session)

I learned that AAS degrees are best if you're not planning to transfer to a 4-year university and want to go straight into the workforce. The second thing I learned is that in most fields, you will make the most money with a bachelor's degree or higher. The third thing I learned was that you can transfer to a four-year university with an Associate of Arts.

PGCC Women's Soccer vs Allegany College of Maryland

In the first quarter the score was 1-0 with the owls being the winning team. Then in second quarter the score went up to 5-0 with the owls being the winning team and they ended up winning the game. I also really enjoyed watching number 16 and 4 on our team, they seem like strong players. Everyone played well, Go owls!

SGA Town Hall/ Q&A meeting with PGCC's President (September) [Virtual]

I learned that study abroad programs aren't provided at pgcc because there is not enough interest from the students. I also learned that this month is SEAL's new club development month so this would be a great time to create clubs that don't currently exist. The last thing I learned was that the reason for having flock cameras on pgcc's campus, despite outside issues surrounding it, is to help solve emergencies and crimes on campus quickly/efficiently.

    Aaliyah @ SEAL

In this event, I learned that what's considered offensive speech or activity depends on the circumstances and the greater meaning behind what was said or done. I also learned that there are some cases where you can offend someone, even disrespectfully, without violating freedom of speech. I also learned that printed items for protesting purposes can not be bigger than 11 by 17, and that said items can't be posted on walls or bulletin boards.

Fall 2026 Transfer Fair: LCC [Virtual]

I learned that to get into UMD's smith school of business that I need 3 letters of recommendation and that most students who get into their school apply with early action by the march 1st deadline. I also got in touch with UMD's transfer advisor Wontae Neal and will schedule a meeting with him sometime before winter semester if I end up choosing UMD. I also met with UMBC's representative Ashleigh Tillman and she sent me an email with all the info I need. Very informative session.

    Refresh Session (1st Session)

In this refresh session, I learned that you should have a point of contact if the event that you attended is not on GivePulse or sponsored by SSP. I also learned that external trips will be capped at 5 hours. The last thing I learned was that you should add your student ID number when emailing SSP.

End of Semester Spring 2026 (mandatory meeting)

I learned that the maximum bookstore money you get for the summer is 250 dollars. I also learned that ideally, you should not sign up for more than 6 credits during the summer since it's accelerated. One last thing I learned was that moving forward, you will get barred from participating in volunteering events you register for and do not show up to.

    Dancescapes 2026

I enjoyed watching all of the different programs within this dance performance. My favorite performance was the program "Pearls" because it represented the journey of people, more specifically, the challenges we face and the hope that comes along the way. In that specific dance, they showed signs of struggle by bending over and putting their hands on their head. Then they showed signs of hope by getting each other's attention, holding their heads up, and walking together. Another part of this experience I enjoyed was seeing an underclassman I was friends with in high school perform. Her name was Camille Brandon, and she did two performances, "Now's the Time" and "Tribute to Lester Horton". I'm so glad I got to see her perform and shout her name from the sidelines.
