I attended the SGA Town Hall meeting (I missed the sign-up time on GivePlus, but I received an email). In the meeting, they said to check with professors on their AI clause before you start class. And to use our own words, rather than avoiding AI tools like Grammarly. I heard we are also getting a game room. There is also an SGA election going on, so all candidates said what they would do once they are elected.
This meeting informed me of how to create a resume. I learned that you should change your resume format regardless of whether you are going for a new job. You shouldn't keep it the same. You should also make sure your grammar is proper, and if your resume is 90%, it won't get accepted. Education requires you to add GPA, relevant college courses to the job you are applying for, graduation date, and awards. Once you reach college, high school is left off the resume.
I learned that becoming a state police officer is a 7-step process. FTC (a Physical test), 3 to 6 months, 2 written tests, and a medical. It could take a long time if you are older (depending on your life currently). Orientation. If you pass all three on the same day, you can move faster toward becoming an officer. You can also be a civilian employee, such as in inventory control or mechanical work. So things to help around. Travel Unity informed me that other jobs like sales, drivers, IT, cleaners, and front desk are all needed for traveling. Experior is a financial service company. You need a licence to work there, which you need to get 70% to pass.
I learned about the best buy offers and positions. A person who has no knowledge of technology can be proficient in Samsung in a year.
At this town hall meeting, I learn the lunch room is coming back, but not any time soon. And that ICE isn't allowed to ask us for ID.
In this workshop, we learned some of the best ways to find jobs and internships. I learned that employers will check your social media if you link it, so you should be wary of that & what to put on your resume so you can get a job.
The town hall meeting was informative, I was told about to think outside the box while writing my resume and that I should use my resources as much as possible (I.e. study sessions, asking teachers for help.). Just they also went over many resource that they provided.
I went to a basketball game, and the tickets were provided by Ms. McIntosh. I got to bring one friend with me. I don't know if this will count towards my hours because it an event that didn't happen at pgcc.
We learned how to use and navigate GivePulse. I thought it was very informative and gave me a slight refresher on how to use GivePulse.
