I recently volunteered with Miracle League an organization that hosts people with disabilities and gives them the best weekend at the ballpark. My tasks included assisting players as they ran the bases, offering encouragement, and helping create an atmosphere where everyone could feel included and celebrated. One thing I noticed was how well everyone collaborated. Each volunteer played a role, whether it was guiding players, cheering them on, or coordinating the flow of the game. Challenges, such as making sure each player felt safe and confident, were solved through patience, communication, and encouragement. This experience connects to my own values of inclusivity, kindness, and leadership. I was paired with a buddy named Dalton, who was about 25 years old. He loved to sing, dance, and play baseball. Being his buddy helped me see a different perspective on Miracle League’s mission: to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to experience the joy of sports. Looking ahead, this experience shapes how I think about leadership. It reminded me that effective leaders don’t just drive results, they create environments where people feel supported, valued, and motivated. In my future career, I want to carry forward this idea of inclusive leadership, where success is measured not only by outcomes but also by the positive impact on people’s lives.
