    Capitol Area Food Bank

Today, at the food bank, with less volunteers than usual, we were able to pack 575 boxes of food! I am beyond proud to be a part of this team; their perfection and commitment blended so well that with less people we were able to do so much in a three hour period. It enforced again how it was possible to achieve our targets through perseverance and teamwork.

Spending my evening, volunteering at the food bank was soul-warming. I spent time working with a government-backed community association, and was deeply impressed by the commitment it attracted.
The team was incredibly diverse. All had diverse experiences and perspectives from very different backgrounds. It was powerful to see how these different life experiences united into a common goal of working on the ground-level to make an impact in this community.

The demonstration of their dedication only emphasized how valuable service work is and can be. What had emerged from the GroundWorld: Global campaign was that people as a collective, no matter where they came from or what capacity in which we vested them would rally together for any good cause.

This evening, I had the chance to pick up a volunteer shift at Capital Area Food Bank and it was so fulfilling. It was very organized which made the flow of events seamless and efficient. Everything was step by step and easy to understand so we could all jump in where needed. I think what struck me on the day was that it brought together all these volunteers who were so willing and ready to get their hands dirty. All of us were pulling together to help each other. It was really nice to see how all came together no matter our backgrounds or differences.
