Averie Maddox

I really enjoyed my experience and the time I spent interacting with the youth at the Boys and Girls club. I think its important to interact with the community outside of the gates of spelman and I hope that I was able to positively impact the kids that I spoke with at the event.

My role at the Health Professions Conference included ushering guests to their seats and directing them to the right place. I also helped with other necessary tasks, including preparing coats for the white coat ceremony. I enjoyed the session that I was able to attend at this year's Health Professions Conference. I gained a lot of insight from hearing about the experiences of the different health professionals, and I appreciated the perspectives that they were able to provide, as many of them were from countries outside of the US. I felt very encouraged to continue pursuing a path in medicine despite the barriers that are arising today, and I am glad that I was able to play a role in the success of this event.

I enjoyed this experience. I wasn't able to see my impact directly, but I was hopeful throughout the process that the effort would be beneficial in the long run. I believe this upcoming election is crucial to the future of our nation, so voter turnout is of the utmost importance. It definitely inspired me to be more active and engaged when it comes to politics so that I can help others stay active and informed as well.
