    Good Shepherd Hopice Volunteers

Hospice volunteering has been a profoundly impactful experience on my journey to becoming a healthcare professional. It has taught me valuable lessons about empathy, human connection, the importance of active listening, and the broader purpose of medicine. It has also challenged me to confront the reality of mortality and develop the resilience necessary for a career in healthcare.

Volunteering to transcribe letters written by historical figures like Joseph Holt offered a unique opportunity to delve into the past, connect with history, and contribute to the preservation of invaluable records. In the span of 2 hours, I was able to transcribe 2 historic documents and review 4 transcripts of documents. In this context, providing reflection and feedback becomes essential, as it not only enhances the transcription process but also enriches my personal experience. As a transcriber, I was able to enhance my understanding of the past, improve their transcription skills, and be part of a community dedicated to preserving history for future generations. In this journey, the act of transcribing becomes not just a task but a means to connect with the past and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the written word.
