I had a great time as always volunteering at the boys and girls club in Cartersville. Over the course of the semester I have gathered valuable skills and information as well as forming great relationships along the way. Andre has been a great depth of knowledge and was always helpful, and the staff members there were polite and helpful.
I had a fantastic time volunteering at the boys and girls club in Cartersville. After arriving early to coordinate with Andre we mutually decided on a game plan for day. This was then implemented when the children arrived after school. When the students first arrived I helped facilitate onboarding of students, showing students to the coat room as well as their assigned seats. From there I bounced around the room helping a number of students on a plethora of homework assignments ranging from addition and subtraction to reading comprehension. With all homework complete the students were given free time to play in the gym. My role from this point forward was to ensure student safety and facilitate student pickup. I watched the door and informed Andre of any cars arriving for pickup. From there he would verify the individuals identity and safely release children from the club to their parents or guardians. I had a fantastic time, the staff was helpful and polite as always, and Andre was truly great to work with. His passion for his work is obvious and inspiring.
I had a great time at the Boys and Girls club of Cartersville. Mr. Sanders is very friendly and welcoming. Throughout my day I was able to interacts with students in the club, and form valuable connections. In my time today, I taught one student, who was particularly interested in the garden there, about the growing process of okra, and the plant's life cycle. It was a very fulfilling time and I am grateful for the opportunity to volunteer at the Cartersville Boys and Girls Club.
