I attended the final session last Friday. The meeting gave Promise Scholars a refresh on the program and scholarship requirements. I have been a part of the program for two years, so I am very familiar with the program. Additionally, I recently graduated. Good luck to current and future Promise Scholars!

I learned some helpful things about how I can improve my essay. The speakers talked about the small details, which do have an impact on how your resume flows. Font size, spacing, and the fonts you choose make a first impression on the interviewer or recruiter. The content of your resume is the most important. This workshop was a good refresher.
Yesterday, I volunteered at the Geek Out Expo at the Surratts-Clinton Branch Library. I did a little of everything. I helped set up furniture in the meeting room for a gaming tournament. I helped make crafts for kids in the learning lab. I greet guests at the welcome table. At the end, I helped take down decorations. It was a fun experience. I would definitely do it again.
Today, I volunteered with the Kids Achieve Club at the New Carrollton Library. I worked with a third grader. I helped her complete her reading homework. We practiced multiplication and division. We spent the rest of the time playing a game.
Today I volunteered at Interfaith Works in Rockville with the Southern Management Leadership program. I volunteered to help out in the pantry. I help clean the buckets that food donations would be stored in. I also helped break down boxes. It was a great experience getting to see what their organization does and getting to help out. I enjoyed hearing about my peer's experience sorting donated clothes, sorting books, and working with the cohort at Montgomery College.
Dr. Bryant touched on some very valuable topics this session, such as external and internal comparison, behaviors associated with perfectionism, and having self-compassion. I could definitely relate because I'm a perfectionist. She gave some very valuable advice, such as embracing being good enough, having compassion towards yourself, and practicing positive self-talk.
Today, I volunteered with the Kids Achieve Club at the New Carrollton Library. I worked with a third grader. He didn't have any homework. He worked on a math paint-by-numbers sheet. Then he did a word search. We spent the rest of the time playing a math game.
On Thursday, I volunteered with the Kids Achieve Club at the New Carrollton Library. I worked with a third grader. He didn't have any homework. He enjoys math, so we worked on a color-by-number worksheet. Then, we played a math game with him and his brother.
Today, I volunteered with the Kids Achieve Club at the New Carrollton Library. I worked with a 2nd grader. His homework was to use this week’s spelling words in a sentence. He didn’t need any help. He showed a strong interest in math, so we spent a majority of the time doing math worksheets and playing math games.
I attended the transfer fair with my class at UTC. I primarily talked with the representatives at University of Maryland, College Park, since that's the campus I plan to transfer to this fall. It was helpful that Wontae Neal, the pre-transfer advisor, was there to answer questions course transferability.
