Had my last hangout with my mentee before summer break. I picked her up form school like usual and went to sonic for a quick drink/snack before making clay animals. After that I dropped her back off at her moms work.
Hungout with my mentee after picking her up from school. We went to hobby lobby to get a craft for our hangout. We decided on bracelet making with a side of candy! I took her to the sorority house where we made bracelets, played games, and colored. After this, I took her to her mom!
My mentee and I had our second hangout. I was able to pick her up early from the school and take her to sonic for fun drinks and a snack. We then headed to the park to have some fun and enjoy the weather. We also had a chance to walk my puppy which she loved. I then dropped her off at her mom's work.
My mentee and I had out first hangout. I picked her up from parent teacher conferences where we went to grab snacks to hangout at the sorority house. We had an event so she got to meet a bunch of girls while coloring together. We got to know more about eachother and even got to plan our next hangout. I then dropped her off to her mom's work.
Meet and Greet with Mentee: Met at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters office to introduce myself to my mentee and her mother. Joe, the coordinator led the meeting to find us a time that was consistent for the both of us to work. We talked about interests and potential dates we could have. She ended up warming up to me and was so excited.
Volunteer Pre-Match Training for Bigs: Followed the required paperwork in which the program uses to match the bigs to their littles. Filled out interests, personalities, ect. And also provided letter of recommendations for them.
Welcome to BBBS & The Learning Exchange! (Volunteers): Learning training for me provided on their website. Provided basic information like their impact and expectations for volunteers. Provided information for me as a volunteer on what the organization looks like.
Volunteer Enrollment Interview: Met with Ms. Jamie who works for the organization. During this interview I answered a list of questions in which were important to me. As well as a list of questions at which I would be comfortable if my mentee held the trait. She also went over traits that were mentioned in my paperwork. Basic questions like what a friend means to me and background information of myself.
Volunteer Orientation Powerpoint: Provided before my interview as an expectations resource. It also mentioned their motive as a program. It showed pictures which expressed the success of the program alongside facts of the overall program and not just NWA.
