About

My husband and I just moved to Austin in June, 2022 from Northern Michigan. I am a retired elementary teacher, an Advanced Master Gardener in Michigan and an Instructor in Junior Master Gardening, active grandmother, prolific reader, ukulele player, and do needlework. I love everything about gardening and have held workshops for all ages on miniature/ fairy gardens, moss gardens, and terrariums. My favorite travel destination is Hawaii and I love all sports both as a player and spectator. I am excited to be volunteering at ZBG!

    Dino Days 2025
    Docent tour

A beautiful day for a ZBG tour! I did have one gal who said outside the Japanese that the Japanese didn't have it so bad as she felt they were treated fairly and people "protected their seized land and paid their mortgages" while they were away". As I was dumbfounded I let the topic drop and moved on. She was totally misinformed and I didn't want to delay the tour with a debate about what really happened. I found out later that the other docent had a similar conversation with her group from the same garden club. It shows an area where Zilker could bring clarity to a dark history for America. Perhaps by posting something in the garden or a published article or workshop.

    Dino Days 2025

Dino Days started slowly as the severe cold and wetness made for a smaller crowd. Tables were set up in the conference center. It was well organized and fun for all!
