Today I was the BOX STACKER. We were on a conveyor belt line which moved the boxes which people were packing towards us where we stacked them in palettes to be taken and wrapped up. We did 25 palettes full which was 6 x 5 - 30 boxes. Which equaled 21.9K lbs of food, and 18K meals.
I worked the West Nest stand where we served three kinds of chicken wings, chicken tenders, fries, and drinks. Met a few morehouse brothers there as well as many more people. It was very fast paced and I honestly enjoyed it.
I was a little lost at first so I had to call the lady in charge but i found it eventually. I worked at a Jamaican food spot called Irie Mon. I did cash register and fixing food. We served jerk chicken, ox tail, shimp/chicken rasta pasta, and beef/chicken patties. I met some cool people and helped with cleanup and taking all the food down to the loading dock to get taken back. I went a little longer than i was scheduled for because It took a long time to take all the stuff down and load the van up afterwards.
I enjoyed corresponding with Breaking The Cycle AUC and am happy I was able to help make a high schooler's prom experience for them.
This time back at the food bank, I was more of a nomad role. I basically just did whatever odd jobs they gave me at the time. I learned how to operate a pallet jack, I moved numerous loads with that pallet jack, and I also helped with the 5th grade group who came in. Overall, pretty enjoyable! Got to properly work with some of the staff more this time as well.
I helped Ms. Dobbs get things out of her car in preparation for the Lomax Scholars Luncheon. Me and a few other Lomax scholars took a few trips with dollies carrying all the things up to the supply closet on the 3rd floor of Gloster Hall.
