Today I helped prepare for an upcoming event at the Jones Center by organizing and arranging some of the decorations. I measured and calculated how many feet of tinsel we had available, and I also made tissue paper flowers to add more color and detail to the setup!

For my service at the Jones Center, I helped promote two upcoming events by distributing flyers throughout Springdale. I handed out and posted flyers for the comedian performing on Friday, December 19th, as well as for La Posada, a traditional Christmas celebration happening on December 6th. I focused mainly on Emma Avenue, making sure the flyers were visible in high-traffic areas so more community members would see them and learn about the events.
For my service hours, I graded kids’ swim quizzes and helped organize outreach for the Jones Center gym by plugging information into a Google form. I also brainstormed places around Springdale to hang flyers.
The PBS Kids Family Day at The Jones Center was a fun community event with different stations for families to enjoy together. I worked in the kids’ craft room, helping children make and decorate their own masks. I guided them through the process and encouraged them to tear tape, add gemstones, and color all on their own to help build their fine motor skills.
On Saturday October 4th, from 11:30 to 1:30, I helped at the Jones Center for the kids’ bike race event. I did the same tasks as the previous day, working at the crafts table to help kids make bike plates and tassels. I also monitored the bouncy house to make sure everything was safe.
On Friday October 3rd, from 4:30 to 7:30, I worked at the Jones Centers Runway Birke Park for a BBQ kick-off event for a bike race for kids. I helped at the crafts table, where I guided children in making bike plates and colorful tassels for their bikes. It was fun to see how creative and excited the kids were about the provided projects. I also helped monitor the bouncy house to make sure everyone was safe and having a good time. At the end of the event, I helped with clean-up.
Ran/Walked 4 miles this morning!
