More laidback than my previous shift at this event. Was simple when we put up the hurdle carts.

The rain was an unpleasant surprise, but the pace was consistent, instruction was clear, and the coordinators were organized. A lovely experience.
I ended up coming early because my friend signed up for the early shift, and I was just able yo sign in an help anyways. Everyone was nice, set up and take down was simple. The kids that came through seemed to enjoy it.
Besides a few people that let their apparently limited world experiences drive them to be rude, it was well organized and I was glad to be working for something to benefit others.
It was a rather relaxed event but nice. There was a good turn out of people so it was easy to fall into the flow of things. If you have a bad back, you can also just sit in different spots and sift through river debris to pick up trash so it’s a life saver in that regard. Still just a little physically demanding but definitely not very draining at all.
The work was manageable and there were many people there, so it was well divided. I moved some logs and then switched over to helping pul invasive plants, so I didn’t get bored at any point. The area was looking a bit nicer when we finished and it was good to see the native plants look a little less strangled with invasives. The donuts, water, and coffee was a very nice bonus, as was the small raffle. Overall a very positive experience.
It’s about what you’d expect, not a cakewalk, but not back breaking or anything. I had arrived when there weren’t many people there, so that was a bit of a hiccup, but that’s more on me arriving a tad before 10. Everyone there was very nice and it is a simple enough task to sort stuff that the time passed quickly. I only ended up stopping a bit early because I kinda ended up working one of my hands partially raw, but it kinda worked out because someone there moved some equipment around where I had been working after I had to tap out. Medium to large scale composting/recycling/renewability efforts are something I really support so being able to help even if just a bit is nice, and the people and set up made it all the more enjoyable of an experience.
