Today was great. I feel like we really hit our stride. The children really opened up and were willing to fully participate, listen, have full conversations, and ask questions as they had them. I feel like today was a really great day not just for talking about respect, but also for rapport building. I feel like in the past weeks it was difficult to fully focus, and for the kids to fully focus as we were in a shared in-school detention space. Today, it was easier for everyone to open up and express themselves the way they wanted to as we were in the library. I think the library is a much safer space, as far as the children being comfortable and feeling safe to share, as they know they will not be eavesdropped on or judged by anyone else for what they want to talk about or share. The activities today were great, they truly felt like segues into conversations, rather than distractions as they sometimes did in the ISD room. I think if we can continue to meet in the library we will be able to build more and more rapport with these children.

Impacts
This week went well. It was difficult to lead groups in the same room that the school was holding in-school detention. It seems to make the children in the group more wary about sharing as well as less excited to participate. Other than that the time with the children went well and we had somewhat productive conversations about teamwork.
This was the first session with the two groups at Huffman Middle that Hannah Hammond and myself are helping to facilitate. I feel like it went well. We saw the areas that we need to set more firm boundaries on with the kids and got to know them while getting our bearings. I am excited to work with these young individuas through the semester.

This is time spent making affirmation cards for the BridgeWays Links up program for Ms. Weaver to distribute as she sees fit!
This is for the time spent preparing things at the Huffman Middle for the groups that Hannah Hammond and I facilitated.
