This past Friday, I helped to load, unload, and sort a shipment of donations from Walmart to Samaritan's Feet in Springdale, AR. There were five pallets of shoes that will be distributed to less fortunate people in the Northwest Arkansas area at our future volunteering events. Every time I volunteer with Samaritan's Feet, I think of all the people who will finally be able to wear a new pair of shoes thanks to our work. Though it may seem like a relatively insignificant item of clothing, a good pair of shoes is absolutely crucial for a person to have, and especially for a child to have. I am so proud of the work we have done to transport and sort this donation.

At this event with the organization Samaritan's Feet International, I helped along with fellow volunteers to distributed shoes and socks to the less fortunate. This event was in Springdale, AR at the church, Vida Abundante. Through giving shoes to families, we were able to ensure that the children of these families were not exposed to footborn illness as the new school year ramps up. For people who cannot afford this necessary piece of clothing and protection, events like these can bring them great relief as they no longer have to decide between buying their children food or shoes with their money. One very important thing I took away is just how important this issue is not only in 3rd world countries, but also right here in the United States. We have so much work to do in order to ensure that everyone can afford their basic needs, and I am so glad I engaged in this volunteer event.
The glow run was an absolute success, with countless Arkansas students in attendance. My job was to direct runners throughout their race. The event was very well managed, and I enjoyed volunteering!
