Community Kitchen - Meals for Kids

This was my second time coming and working in the kitchen for the meals for kids. I once brought my mom with me and I was still very shocked at the massive amount of food that had to be made. me and my mom counted out around 4,000 containers for meals and we also went to count condiments. once again this process was very tedious but in the long run I could see how much of an impact we actually made. we made things run a lot smoother and faster for the workers there. being behind the scenes of it all is pretty neat and I will always and forever be amazed at how many people the food bank is able to feed. they truly are doing amazing work and honestly I love helping out. when you go to the main building they have pictures and frames and quotes all over the walls. one quote in particular has stuck with me, "Service is the rent we pay for living on this earth". This quote has continued to run through my head and I loved helping out at the food bank. I can see the impact we made in the short amount of time we served and I would gladly do it again my own time.

Open opportunities at San Antonio Food Bank

Now i have volunteered at the Food Bank before however i usually did my service in the main building. This time i was instructed to go to a different and newer part of the food bank. i actually signed my mom up too because when i used to have to do many service hours my mom would always come with me. the only hard part was waking up at 5 am but honestly it was extremely peaceful. once me and my mom got there they put us to work by sorting and counting out plates. although our work was very tedious we got many thanks yous because of how much it actually helped in the long run. i loved seeing the people who work there light up whenever more people would show up. it was an overall great experience and me and my mom will be doing this more frequently.
